JBLE, Hampton Roads hosts military spouse appreciation event

By Staff Sgt. Natasha Stannard 633rd Air Base Wing Public Affairs

Joint Base Langley-Eustis teamed with the local community to host Evening Under the Stars, a military appreciation event in Hampton, May 10, 2017.

The event, which was open to military spouses from all branches, aimed to thank spouses for their support within the military community.

“The Hampton Roads area has a large contingency of military spouses, so we found it important to recognize the contributions of our military spouses,” said Dawn Teagle, 633rd Force Support Squadron Military and Family Readiness flight chief. “With that in mind, what better way to do so than a joint appreciation event where they can come and be pampered with massages, manicures and facials, along with a plethora of vendors who are here to show their support?”

In addition to showing gratitude, the event was also designed to help military families feel a part of the community, as it featured local services, upcoming events and seasonal activities.

“I’ve never been to this event, but I’ve always wanted to come,” said Victoria Garoutte, spouse of U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Jaron Garoutte, 30th Intelligence Squadron signal intelligence NCO in charge. “I love that everyone here is a fellow military spouse and all of the information being given out is relevant to my life.”
