JOINT BASE LANGLEY-EUSTIS, Va. - Graphic made for social media in honor of Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 2017. Veterans Day, formerly known as Armistice Day, is a U.S. holiday, which originally honored service members who served during World War I. The name was officially changed after World War II and the Korean War when veterans asked U.S. Congress to change the day’s name from “Armistice Day” to “Veterans Day” in order to acknowledge the sacrifices made by all service members past, present and future.
