Command Sergeant Major Bradford L. Smith


    CSM Bradford L. Smith was born in Little Rock, AR and entered the United States Army on 01 December 1993. He completed Basic Combat Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and received his Advanced Individual Training as a CH-47 Medium Helicopter training at Ft Eustis, VA in June 1994.

    CSM Smith’s began as a CH-47 Phase Team Member and progressed to a Flight Engineer on both CH-47 D and E model’s, Squad Leader, Section Sergeant, Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor, Senior Drill Sergeant, Battalion Operations Sergeant, Detachment Sergeant, First Sergeant, Aviation Operations Chief, Senior Aircraft Maintenance manager. His CONUS assignments Fort Campbell KY (4 times); Hunter Army Airfield, GA, Fort Eustis, VA; Fort Bliss, TX. His OCONUS assignments include Camp Humphreys, Korea (2 times), Soto Cano Honduras (2 times); El Salvador, and multiple deployment to Iraq and Afghanistan (3 times).

    CSM Smith’s military education includes the CH-47 Medium Helicopter Repairers Course, Warrior Leaders Course, Advance Leaders Course, Senior Leaders Course, First Sergeant Course and the Resident Course Class 65 of the United States Army Sergeant Major Academy. His military training includes Battalion and Aviation Pre Command Courses, Drill Sergeant School, Pathfinder Course, Air Assault Course, Air Crew Life Support Course, Modern Army Combatives Level I and II, and Equal Opportunity Course. He has earned an Associate of Science in Professional Aeronautics from Embry Riddle University, and a Bachelor Degree in Business Management from Excelsior College.

    CSM Smith’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star (1 OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (4th  OLC), Air Medal with “V” Device, Air Medal (numeral 5), Army Commendation Medal (10th  OLC), Army Achievement Medal (6th  OLC), Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Good Conduct Medal (7th award), National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Service Star , Korean Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (2 stars), Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary  Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Ribbon (1 OLC), NCO Development Ribbon (numeral 5), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (numeral 6), NATO Medal. The Combat Action Badge, Master Aviation Badge, Airborne Badge, Pathfinder Badge, Air Assault Badge, Drill Sergeant Identification Badge, the Driver Mechanics Badge. He has also been awarded the Honorable Order of Saint Michael (Bronze Award).
