Chief Master Sergeant Jay N. Ellis is the Command Chief Master Sergeant for the 192d Fighter Wing, Virginia Air National Guard, Langley
AFB, VA. He works directly for the Wing Commander and advises him on matters impacting the enlisted force, such as proper utilization,
quality of enlisted leadership, management/supervisor training, operations
tempo, and quality of life concerns. He ensures the commanders policies are known and understood by the enlisted force and monitors compliance with Air Force standards. He serves on advisory councils, and serves as the functional manager for assigned first sergeants.

Chief Ellis grew up in Richmond, Virginia. Chief Ellis entered the Air Force in Oct 1976. Upon graduating technical school at Keesler AFB, MS., as an Avionics Inertial Navigation System Specialist, he was assigned to 192d Consilidated Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at Byrd Field Va.. In Nov. of 1982 he cross trained to a Avionics AeroGroundspace Equipment Specialist and was assigned to the 192d Maintenance Squadron working on A-7s and then on F-16s. In Jan of 1996 Chief Ellis cross trained to Communication's System Manager and was assigned to the 192d Communication's Flight where he served as the Superintendent. In October 2007, Chief Ellis helped facilitate the stand-up of the Virginia Air National Guard's first ever Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) Squadron. Inclusive with the squadron stand up was the first integration effort between the 497th ISR Group and the 192d Intelligence Squadron at Distributed Ground Station-1. Chief Ellis served as the Superintendent of the Communications Logistics Support Element until July 2011 when Chief Ellis was assigned as the 192d Inteligence Squadron CEM.
