Colonel Tyler J. Ellison

Colonel Tyler Ellison is the Vice Commander, 1st Fighter Wing, Air Combat Command, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia. As Vice Commander, he ensures the wing is ready to deploy and employ F-22 air dominance fighters worldwide in support of Combatant Commander taskings. He assists the commander in leading the wing’s 1,700 personnel, two airfields, two groups, and six squadrons, including two F-22 fighter squadrons and a T-38 fighter training squadron.

Col. Ellison entered the Air Force in 2002 after receiving his commission from the United States Air Force Academy. He has served in multiple fighter squadrons, commanded at the squadron level and served at the MAJCOM and Combatant Command level. During his operational assignments, he has deployed in support of NATO operations, PACOM Theater Security Packages, operation SPARTAN SHIELD and has flown

Operation NOBLE EAGLE air sovereignty missions. Prior to serving as vice commander, Col. Ellison served as the Director, Combat Operations Division, 609th Air Operations Center, Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar.
