Command Sergeant Major Daniel J. Hoyt

Command Sergeant Major Daniel James Hoyt, a native of Portsmouth, Virginia, enlisted in the United States Army Reserves in 2000 as an 88N, Transportation Management Coordinator. He completed basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and advanced individual training at Fort Eustis, Virginia. He transitioned to active duty in May 2004.

CSM Hoyt’s previous assignments include ACoS C4(G4) Sergeant Major, 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Humphreys, Korea; Division Transportation Office Sergeant Major, 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Humphreys, Korea; First Sergeant, Operations Sergeant, 7th Transportation Brigade (Expeditionary), Fort Eustis, Virginia; 155th Inland Cargo Transfer Company, Fort Eustis, Virginia; Senior Career Advisor, Human Resources Command, Fort Knox, Kentucky; Senior Movement NCO, 486th Movement Control Team, Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson, Alaska, Senior Movement NCO, 497th Movement Control Team, Fort Benning, Georgia; Movement Supervisor, 24th Transportation Battalion Terminal, Fort Eustis Virginia; Movement NCO, Installation Management Command, Camp Casey, Korea; Transportation Management Coordinator, 403rd Cargo Transfer Company, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

CSM Hoyt completed three deployments: two in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and one in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

CSM Hoyt’s military education includes Basic Leaders Course, technical transportation of Hazardous Material, Unit Movement Officer deployment planner, Combatives Level one, Advanced Leaders Course, Senior Leaders Course, Equal Opportunity leader, Sexual Harassment and Assault Response and Prevention course, and Master Fitness Trainer course. He is a graduate of the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Leadership.

CSM Hoyt's awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (4th award), the Army Commendation Medal (6th award), the Army Achievement Medal (6th award), and the Navy Achievement Medal. He is a recipient of the Order of Saint Christopher and a member of the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club.

CSM Hoyt lives with his wife of 20 years, Sarah, and two daughters, Isabel and Lillian.
