Chief Master Sergeant Christopher L. Amburn

Chief Master Sergeant Christopher L. Amburn is the Command Chief Master Sergeant for the 192D Fighter Wing, Virginia Air National Guard at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia. He is the principal advisor to the 192D Fighter Wing Commander on all enlisted matters. His responsibilitie include keeping the commander informed of all issues affecting the health, morale, welfare, readiness and lethality of nearly 1,200 enlisted members.
 
Chief Amburn began his military career in September 1992. After graduating Basic Military Training, he was assigned to the 23rd Composite Wing, Pope Air Force Base, North Carolina. He was deployed in October 1994 to Dhahran Saudi Arabia in support of Operation Vigilant Warrior. In 1995, he left the active component for a fulltime positon with the 145th Airlift Wing, Charlotte, North Carolina. From 1995 to 2005 he served in various positions within the Logistics Readiness Squadron to include warehouse operations, inventory, requisitions and the hazardous material pharmacy. In 2005, Chief Amburn cross- trained to the contracting career field and assumed a full time position in the 145th Mission Support Group Contracting Office. Chief Amburn also served as a Satellite Noncommissioned Officer Academy facilitator at the 145th Airlift Wing during this time. He served as President of the Noncommissioned Officers Graduate Association, and has served as chairman of the Education and Scholarship Committee and Regional Director promoting and supporting professional military education.
 
Prior to becoming the 192D Fighter Wing Command Chief, he was the Contracting Career Field Functional Manager for the Air National Guard Readiness Center (ANGRC), Joint Base Andrews, Maryland. He was the first Air National Guard enlisted contracting career field manager and was responsible for 400 Contracting Unit Type Codes ensuring the readiness of 90 Wings throughout the United States and Territories. He also served as the CC Superintendent at the ANGRC where he provides leadership, management and guidance to enlisted personnel while working closely with the ANGRC Commander and Command Chief. Additionally, he served as the President of the Air National Guard Readiness Center Chiefs Group, Air National Guard Chiefs Executive Course Facilitator and Project Officer for the 2018 Enlisted Leadership Symposium.
