CSM Muriel A. Macdonald

Command Sergeant Major Macdonald is a native of San Francisco, California. She enlisted in the United States Army in November 1998.  She completed both Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Jackson, SC and was awarded the Military Occupation Specialty of 71L, Administrative Specialist. 

Command Sergeant Major Macdonald recently served as the 18th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion Command Sergeant Major in Grafenwoehr, Germany.  Her previous assignment she served as the Plans and Operations Sergeant Major for the 8th Human Resources Sustainment Center, Fort Shafter, Hawaii.  Other duty assignments include: Training Clerk for Headquarters and Headquarters Company Garrison Command, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; Battalion Training Clerk, S-1 Sergeant, Custodian of Postal Effects, and Platoon Sergeant with 90th Personnel Services Battalion, Baumholder, Germany; Company Training Sergeant and Personnel Service Sergeant for 2nd Battalion 39th Infantry Regiment (2-39th INF REGT), Fort Jackson, SC; Administrative Sergeant for the United States Central Command deploying in support of Operation Enduring Freedom to Qatar and Afghanistan.  Upon completion of her deployment she returned to Fort Jackson, SC to serve as a Drill Sergeant with 2-39th INF REGT.  She served as both Brigade and Battalion Senior Human Resources Sergeant for 2nd Brigade Combat Team (2BCT), 82nd Airborne Division and the 2nd Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.  While assigned to 2BCT, 82nd ABN she deployed in support of Operation New Dawn, Iraq and Operation Unified Response, Haiti; 1SG of the Advanced Leaders Course (ALC) NCO Academy, Soldier Support Institute (SSI), Fort Jackson, SC. 

Command Sergeant Major Macdonald’s military and civilian education includes Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course, Advance Noncommissioned Officer Course, Sergeant Major Academy Class 66, Airborne School, Drill Sergeant School, Combatives’ Level One, Combat Lifesaver Course, Jumpmaster Course, Battle Staff Course, Army Basic Instructor Course, Developer Middle Managers Course, Faculty Development Course, Human Resources Plans and Operations Course, an Associate degree in General Studies awarded from the University of Maryland, and a Bachelor of Professional Studies Business and Management awarded from Excelsior College.

Command Sergeant Major Macdonald’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medals (2OLC), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medals (3OLC), Army Achievement Medals (1 Silver OLC), Meritorious Unit Commendation, Army Superior Unit Award, Army  Good Conduct Medals (Bronze 5 Loops), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal,  Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 4), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Drill Sergeant Identification Badge, Senior Parachutist Badge, and Drivers Badge.

Command Sergeant Major Macdonald is married to Andrew Macdonald of Naples, Florida.  Together they have five sons Jorden (18), David (15), Amir (13), Omar (11), and Elijah (2).
