Hampton community honors fallen heroes
December 21, 2018 — Joint Base Langley-Eustis and Hampton community members gathered together at the Hampton National Cemetery to pay respect to fallen members of the Armed Forces in honor of National Wreaths Across America Day in Hampton, Virginia, Dec. 15, 2018. JBLE Airman helps save drowning girl
July 3, 2018 — A child was drowning at Fort Monroe Beach, Virginia, May 13, 2018. When medical services arrived, they found a young girl that had been rescued from the water and was in her mother’s arms. The nine-year-old had gone swimming, when the current took her into deeper waters where she could no longer stand and was getting closer to the rocks. ... MORE

Connecting with veterans through unique therapy
March 17, 2017 — Throughout her weekly meetings and tasks, Jamie Reed takes moments to stare at the foliage outside her office window. During those brief moments, Reed looks forward to the one day of the month when she can get her hands dirty working alongside service members and civilians to take care of garden plots at the Hampton Veteran Affairs Medical Center’s horticultural therapy garden. Contracting: filling manpower gaps
February 28, 2017 — From line cooks to the total demolition of a building, the 633rd Contracting Squadron at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia, helps guarantee that the installation has the end strength to keep running. Before the U.S. Air Force minimized its personnel by 41 percent in 1990, Airmen executed the majority of base operations services, such as dining facilities, grounds maintenance and custodial services. As the size of the force has become smaller, members have had to continue the same missions, while their responsibilities increase in virtually every mission area. The 633rd Contracting Squadron at JBLE has offered a hand to fill those manpower gaps. ... MORE

Langley 1 of 4 AFBs to test bio-based grease
February 21, 2017 — The 733rd Logistics Readiness Squadron vehicle management flight at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia, was chosen to participate in a 12-month long experimental testing of a new bio-based grease to lessen JBLE’s impact on the environment. The 441st Vehicle Support Chain Operations Squadron and the representatives from the Defense Logistics Agency briefed the vehicle management flight about the impact of the bio-based grease on the three vehicles chosen to test the grease, Jan. 31, 2017. Members of the 441st VSCOS will also partner with the U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, NASA and the Kennedy Space Center to test the bio-based grease in their vehicles. ... MORE
