JOINT BASE LANGLEY-EUSTIS, Va. — The Air Force lifestyle is sometimes full of traditions ranging from formal military ceremonies, to carrying small coins stamped with the unit’s insignia. As trivial as some traditions may seem, understanding where a unit has been is key to knowing where they’re going.

The State of the 1st Fighter Wing

JOINT BASE LANGLEY-EUSTIS, Va. — “First to the Fight!” You may have seen the slogan flashed on the sortie board outside the wing headquarters building, or you may have seen it at the bottom of an email. Our motto represents more than just our unit’s number or designation. It encapsulates our wing’s noble, century-old heritage, forged by the scores of maintainers and aviators who wore our unit colors before us. And it points to our role today sustaining their legacy of air power dominance.

JBLE Airmen return from frontline

LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Va. — U.S. Air Force Airmen from the 27th Aircraft Maintenance Unit compete during the 1st Maintenance Squadron Weapons Load Crew of the Quarter competition at Langley Air Force Base, Va., July 29, 2016. During the quarterly competition, three-person teams from the 27th and 94th AMUs competed to correctly load two AIM-9 missiles and a GBU-32 Joint Direct
