Be Ready, stay ready: First to the fight

JOINT BASE LANGLEY-EUSTIS, Va. — As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread across the globe, the Department of Defense now faces new challenges for providing America with its fighting force. For the Air Force this means developing a new norm for its fighter wings. Not only must they mitigate exposure for their work forces, but they still have a requirement to accomplish their primary mission to provide lethal airpower anytime, anywhere.

F-22 Raptor Demo Team rockets through FIDAE

SANTIAGO, Chile — U.S. Air Force members from the F-22 Raptor Demonstration Team, based out of Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia, performed at Feria Internacional del Aire y del Espacio air and trade show in Santiago, Chile April 2-7, 2018.

Valentina Shevchenko, Ultimate Fighting Championship mixed martial artist, spars with U.S. Army Sgt. Dale Addy, 128th Aviation Brigade at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Va., Dec. 9, 2016. Shevchenko not only trained with service members, but also visited U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force units throughout the week as part of a military appreciation visit. Airmen, civilians gain resilience through MMA

JOINT BASE LANGLEY-EUSTIS, Va. — As an Ultimate Fighting Championship athlete gets his hands wrapped and steps into the cage for battle, a cold chill runs down his spine; he’s nervous about the challenge ahead. Comparable to UFC fighters preparing for combat, Airmen may get a similar feeling whether preparing for upcoming deployments or hurdling through peaks and valleys throughout their careers.
