Col. Gregory Beaulieu takes command of the 633d ABW

By 633d ABW/PA Staff 633d Air Base Wing

Members of the 633d Air Base Wing welcomed their new commander during a change of command ceremony June 25, 2021 at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia.

Col. Gregory Beaulieu assumed command from Col. Clint Ross during a ceremony presided over by Maj. Gen. Chad P. Franks, 15th Air Force commander, who thanked Ross for the wing’s accomplishments.

“Under Col. Ross’ leadership, the men and women of the 633d supported the largest and fastest F-22 deployment in history, expediting pre-deployment operations to transport 659 passengers and 303 tons of equipment over 2,000 miles in only 48 hours,” said Franks. “Col. Ross directed the conversion of 207 rooms into contingency quarters to support quarantine of 719 enroute personnel from 55 bases. As the Air Force’s first Aerial Port of Embarkation with Restriction of Movement option. Col Ross and his team enabled deployments to multiple Combatant Commands, ensuring the success of global combat operations. I’m proud to call the innovative and collaborative Airmen of the 633d Air Base Wing part of our 15th Air Force team.”

Ross congratulated Beaulieu on his new position and welcomed him to the JBLE team.

“Congratulations on taking command of one of the Air Force’s most complex air base wings, and the only joint base in all of Air Combat Command. Once again, the Air Force got it right. They got it right when they selected ‘Team Beaulieu’ to command JBLE.”

Prior to taking the reins at the 633d ABW Beaulieu served as the Commander of the 325th Mission Support Group at Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida. He has also served in a wide variety of assignments at the base level, major command, joint task force, combatant command, Headquarters Air Force, and has operational experience in both Central America and Afghanistan.

Beaulieu is no stranger to JBLE, having commanded the 633d Force Support Squadron from July 2013 to July 2015.

“Eight years ago, I stood in the Shellbank Fitness Center and took command of the 633d Force Support Squadron,” Beaulieu said. “I had the opportunity to work with so many outstanding professionals…Now, it is an extreme honor to command the same installation and hospital I was born at.”

Beaulieu went on to say that he is excited for the opportunity to command JBLE with a focus on three priorities.

“These outstanding Airmen and leaders have forged the success of Crossbow Nation and I am so proud to pick up on their legacy…That starts with executing the mission and focusing on my three priorities: Defend the joint base, Support the Fight, and taking Care of Airmen, Soldiers and their families!  I can’t wait to learn more about what you do and how I can better help you be more successful Airmen and Soldiers, on and off duty.”
