Racing through Washington D.C. on an unusually hot and humid autumn day, he spots mile-marker seven. Only three miles left to the finish line. He’s on his own amongst a horde of sweaty runners moving shoulder-to-shoulder, each trying to edge out the person next to them. One team, one fight: Army Ten-Miler team brings services together

For more than thirty years, U.S. Army Soldiers have trained year-round to compete in the Army Ten-Miler in Washington, D.C, working to promote Army and fitness goals, while enhancing community relations and teambuilding skills. Weapons load competition honors fallen Airmen

The 1st Maintenance Group hosted a Weapons Load Crew of the Quarter competition between the 27th and 94th Aircraft Maintenance Units, April 28, 2017. On this occasion, the quarterly competition, which gives Airmen from each AMU the opportunity to showcase their proficiency in loading aircraft munitions, held a deeper meaning as the weapons teams paid tribute to recently fallen Airmen: Senior Airmen Sara Toy and Austin Terrell, and Staff Sgt. Alexandria Morrow.

Wounded warriors prove ‘life without limbs is limitless’

The Newport News police and fire departments competed against the Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team in a seven-inning game, April 15, 2017, to raise awareness for the sacrifices and resiliency of the nation’s veterans. The WWAST is comprised of veterans and active-duty members who lost limbs while serving in the military since 9/11. The members’ amputations range from above the knee to below the elbow, and they hope to educate others that “life without limbs is limitless.”

Airman finds hope on the court

A U.S. Air Force Airman assigned to the 633rd Communication Squadron at Langley Air Force Base, Virginia, represented the base as a member of the All Air Force team during a tournament at the Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia, this past November. “Wearing the jersey with Air Force across the front of it gave me a sense of meaning,” said Wilson. “I always wanted to represent our country while playing the game that I love.”
