Air Force pilot Gail Halvorsen, the original “Candy Bomber,” aka Army Transportation Museum Assistant Curator James Atwater, hands out parachute men toys and candy to the young visitors. Halvorsen was dubbed the “Candy Bomber” for dropping candy attached to miniature parachutes to children during the Berlin Airlift in World War II.
