Duty Title: Air Traffic Control Watch Supervisor
Home Unit: 1st Operations Support Squadron
Hometown: Hampton, Va.
Time in Service: Active duty Air Force eight years
Describe your deployed duty and the tools you use to accomplish it: Air Traffic Controllers support the mission by getting aircraft airborne in a timely manner in order to support ground troops and active surveillance missions in Iraq. We also ensure the safest and quickest route possible for helicopters on urgent medical evacuation procedures.
What are you overall thoughts and opinions about your mission there? I love the role we play in the mission out here. It's a great feeling of accomplishment knowing that the faster we can get our aircraft airborne, the faster they will be able to support our troops outside of the wire.
Supervisor Comments: Sergeant Bowles is a phenomenal ATC Watch Supervisor that directly manages tower operations on a daily basis. He oversees the safe and expeditious flow of 29,000 aircraft movements and more than 2,500 distinguished visitor operations. He is a model wingman, leader and warrior. - Tech. Sgt.
