LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Va. –
Imagine touring historic museums in New York City or feeling the sand between your toes on the beaches of South Carolina.
From the crack of a baseball hitting a bat to the sound of waves breaking on a sandy beach, the Information, Tickets and Tours offices at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Va., can help members of the local military community enjoy their summer.
James Murrell, Langley Community Center and ITT director, encourages Service members at either installation to take advantage of the trips and events offered at both offices.
"My job is to serve those who serve," said Murrell. "If we can't bring the recreation to you, we will take you to it so you can have an enjoyable time while we worry about the logistics."
Most trips offered by ITT are provided at discounted rates to participants. Murrell is able to get military discounts and group rates for attendees, which cost personnel less than individual tickets or travel would cost.
Service members looking to take a more exotic getaway should visit the Fort Eustis ITT office, where they can get assistance booking a cruise or a vacation to places like Jamaica.
"We work in partnership with the Langley office for the different types of vacations," said Kim Brown, Fort Eustis ITT manager. "There are some great rates available now on cruises."
In addition to larger-scale vacation options, Service members can look forward to camping trips, Major League Baseball and National Football League games, visits to New York City and Myrtle Beach, S.C., and many more events available through the Langley ITT office.
Transportation is provided for all trips, leaving Service members, retirees, Department of Defense civilians and their families to enjoy the experience while ITT personnel ensure everyone gets to and from the events safely.
After returning from a year-long deployment, U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Scott Foley, previous commander of the 633rd Security Forces Squadron, took advantage of ITT activities by attending the Baltimore Orioles vs. Boston Red Sox game in Baltimore, June 15.
"It was a lot of fun and a very convenient way to relax," said Foley. "Everyone can enjoy these events at a great price without having to worry about transportation."
Murrell encourages all personnel, family and friends to bring any trip ideas to the ITT office.
"We are always looking for new and exciting things to do," said Murrell. "We just start with an idea and go from there, so we encourage anyone to let us know if they have an idea for a trip they might enjoy and think others will enjoy as well."
Whether you plan on relaxing on a cruise or rooting for your favorite sports team in person, the JBLE ITT offices are sure to have something to give you an enjoyable and relaxing summer adventure.
