LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Va. –
Langley Air Force Base began a major information technology infrastructure upgrade to 210 buildings on base, Feb. 19.
Titled the Base Information Transport Infrastructure Modernization Initiative, this U.S. Air Force initiative will replace all unclassified switches and routers, as well as any outside-plant fiber optic cables and ducts where necessary.
Throughout the process the 633rd Communications Squadron will coordinate with the appropriate agencies to ensure this transition is as seamless as possible, although users should expect some lapses in communications connectivity during the various phases. The estimated project completion date is Dec. 31, 2014.
