JOINT BASE LANGLEY-EUSTIS, Va. –
The 633d Air Base Wing is set to host its third annual Spark Tank competition. Offering a total of $400,000 in funding, the competition aims to encourage personnel to innovate or invent new equipment geared to improve mission operations.
All service members and DoD civilians from the 633d ABW are welcome to participate in the competition.
Participants can expect a three-step process that includes submitting an idea, if selected, pitching the idea to a panel of judges, then the winners will be decided by Col Matthew Altman, 633d ABW installation commander.
Winners will receive ongoing support from the Spark Tank committee, including assistance with formalizing their ideas into contracts.
“What excites me the most about the potential impact of this year’s submission is the ripple effect that comes from one idea,” said Candes Shields, 633d Contracting Squadrons senior contracting specialist. “If a squadron can use an innovative solution to improve the execution of their daily duties, it’ll positively impact our units’ missions as well and inspire them to make effective changes.”
The 633d Contracting Squadron will be accepting submissions from Dec. 4, 2023, to Feb. 9, 2024. Interested participants can submit their ideas through the SharePoint platform here, https://usaf.dps.mil/sites/633ABW/JBLESparkCell , before the submission window closes.
