JOINT BASE LANGLEY-EUSTIS, Va. –
The Department of the Air Force is initiating a third-party inspection to assess the service’s privatized and government housing inventory.
Although inspections began in June, inspections will begin at Langley Air Force Base, Virginia, Nov. 7th and conclude on Dec. 9, 2022.
“Housing is one of the most important quality of life concerns for military members. When leaders speak of taking care of military members and their families, the first thing they should be asking is are my Airmen, Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Guardians and Coast Guardsmen families living in healthy, safe and secure homes,” Edward Keenan, 633d Air Base Wing resident advocate said. “These inspections, mandated by the National Defense Authorization Act will help provide AF and Congressional leaders, an unbiased assessment of the homes habitability, and identify areas to make improvements.
During the next two months, certified home inspectors from Jones Lang LaSalle and Bureau Veritas will visit every home in the housing areas:
Lighter Than Air
Heavier Than Air
Frontier Crossing
Jamestown Crossing
Freedom Terrace I and II
The inspectors will assess unit interiors, building systems, common areas, building exteriors, equipment drainage and landscaping. Only the components, systems and elements of the property that are readily accessible will receive inspection.
These third-party inspections allow for the identification of any health and life safety deficiencies that, if identified, will be relayed to the Langley AFB Military Housing Office immediately for correction.
Tenants will be notified prior to having their home inspected, in accordance with the notification requirements stated in their leases.
Ft. Eustis third-party housing inspections will be conducted at a later date.
Residents are encouraged to contact the local Military Housing Office team throughout the inspection process. For any questions or concerns contact by phone 757-764-5040 or by email at 633ces.ceih.compliance@us.af.mil.
