TRADOC Band kicks off “Music Under The Stars” ‘22 season

By Abraham Essenmacher 633rd Air Base Wing Public Affairs

The U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command Band will start the 2022 “Music Under The Stars” series June 9, at Magnolia Park located on Fort Eustis, at 7pm. This year will be the 90th season of performing and will provide 11 concerts until its finale performance on Aug. 19.

The musicians will perform a wide variety of tunes ranging from "Rockin’ to the 80’s," “The Best of Broadway," to "Sabor Latino Latin Band," and even classics, such as Tchaikovsky’s’ "1812 Overture."

“From the concerts we have been giving lately, the audience response of ‘we are so happy to finally see live concerts again after [the COVID-19 pandemic]’ is overwhelming,” says U.S. Army Lt. Col. Treg Ancelet, TRADOC Band director. “There is something special about bringing your lawn chair or your picnic blanket and enjoying live music from a military band. I guess that is the secret to 90 years of success in this series.”

Admission to the concerts is free, and free parking is available adjacent to Magnolia Park. When driving on post, look for the blue ‘Music Under the Stars’ signs along roadways to direct traffic to the park. Concert goers who do not have a Department of Defense identification card should arrive early with photo identification, proof of auto insurance and registration to secure a day pass from the Fort Eustis Visitor’s Center.
