JOINT BASE LANGLEY-EUSTIS, Va. –
Soldiers and civilians came together to celebrate the National Day of Prayer by offering free breakfast and a prayer service, May 6, 2021.
The celebrations began with a free drive-thru breakfast and prayer line. Chaplains, religious affairs specialists, and chapel volunteers engaged with everybody that stopped by.
"We had a lot of individual engagement with people, we offered to pray with people, and we gave them a breakfast biscuit," said Col. Ken Godfrey, 733rd Mission Support Group chaplain. "It was a good opportunity for us as chaplains, religious affairs specialists, and chapel volunteers to do something for the community."
Participants received not only breakfast sandwiches, but also an opportunity to pray with the religious affairs team. Cars, pedestrians, and even cyclists were greeted by chaplains and chapel volunteers. Each visitor was offered spiritual literature and the opportunity to pray together.
"(In the future) we're looking at not just holding events like this, but branching out even more to have an impact on our community," said Lt. Col. Deborah Brown, 733rd Mission Support Group chaplain.
The celebration concluded with a 45 minute prayer service, with live music from the TRADOC band and vocalist Ron Henry.
