Band to community: 'Thank you'

By Senior Airman Heidi Davis 1st Fighter Wing Public Affairs

As a "thank you" to the community for its continued support, the U.S. Air Force band, "Heritage of America," is holding a free concert each Tuesday and Wednesday in August.

Despite having the first concert rained out, the band has a variety of music genres and special guests lined up for the remainder of the month.

Led by Maj. Doug Monroe, band commander, the 50 band members will entertain guests with modern jazz, rock, smooth jazz, musical theater, classic R&B and Broadway tunes.

"I'm so proud to work with these wonderful Airmen," said Major Monroe. "They are fantastic musicians, great professionals ... and incredibly skilled at their craft."
In the last two weeks of August, the band will be complemented by guest artists Grammy Award winner Skip Martin, the Blue Aces and Broadway vocalist Bruce Adler and the Concert Band.
