ACC aircraft involved in midair collision

354th Fighter Wing Public Affairs

An F-15C and F-16C were involved in a midair collision over the Pacific Alaska Range Complex at 11:23 a.m. June 11. Both Pilots are uninjured and are being observed at a local medical facility. The aircraft were participating in a training mission as part of Red Flag, Alaska scheduled May 31 to June 15. 

The F-15, assigned to Langley AFB, Va., crashed in a rural area. The pilot ejected safely and was recovered by Alaska Air National Guard Rescue Squadrons. 

Although damaged, the F-16, assigned to the 64th Aggressor Squadron, Nellis AFB, Nev., was able to return to Eielson safely. 

A board of officers will investigate the incident. Additional details will be provided as soon as they become available.
