633d Medical Group

633d Medical Group

The 633d Medical Group works and trains as a team to maintain a maximum state of readiness for any contingency while providing quality service to its internal and external customers. The Group's 1,400 personnel deliver outpatient, specialty, and emergent care, as well as operate a premier ambulatory surgical center. The Group also provides robust laboratory, radiology, and pharmacy services.

To support contingency operations, 633 MDG owns two 25-bed Expeditionary Medical Support packages to provide flexible and modular care to the warfighter. Additionally, the Group operates a Blood Transshipment Center, which receives, stores, and ships blood products for use in theater medical facilities.

The 633d MDG supports a local patient population of up to 29,000 active-duty members and their families, as well as up to 426,000 TRICARE beneficiaries in Hampton Roads, including retirees and their families. As a key participant in the Defense Health Agency’s Tidewater Market, the 633d MDG shares services and resources with Fort Eustis’ McDonald Army Hospital and the Portsmouth Naval Medical Center. The 633d MDG's recent awards and honors include several major command and Air Force-level awards, and a full, three-year re-accreditation by the Joint Commission.

The 633 MDGd is composed of five squadrons. The organizations are listed as follows:

633d Operational Medical Readiness Squadron

The 633d OMRS is the most diverse squadron within the Medical Group with the primary mission of medical readiness. The Squadron proactively manages active duty care in order to maintain and rapidly restore service members’ readiness. The 633d OMRS ensures a medically fit and ready force with various services provided by the Flight Medicine Clinic, the Operational Medicine Clinic, Mental Health, Optometry, Physical Therapy, Public Health, and Bioenvironmental Engineering. 

633d Dental Squadron
The 633d DS provides comprehensive dental care to all active duty military personnel assigned to Langley AFB. The Dental Clinic also serves as a major referral and consultant center for active duty personnel assigned to other military organizations in the surrounding area. The clinic has most dental specialties represented to include General Dentistry, Endodontics, Prosthodontics, Periodontics, Oral Surgery, and Orthodontics. The Dental Clinic also operates a one-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency program for dental school graduates.

633d Healthcare Operations Squadron
The 633d HCOS’s primary mission is to provide the TRICARE medical benefit to active duty service members’ families, retirees, and their families. The Squadron consists of the Emergency Department, Pediatrics, Family Health, Internal Medicine, Cardiopulmonary, Neurology, Gastroenterology, and Allergy and Immunizations.


633d Medical Support Squadron

The 633d MDSS organizes, trains, and equips medics in the execution of in-garrison and expeditionary operations, while providing exceptional ancillary and support services to the Tidewater Market population. The Squadron has a broad scope of operations to include Pharmacy, Laboratory, Nutritional Medicine, Medical Readiness, Resource Management, Information Technology, TRICARE Operations and Patient Administration, Commander Support Staff, and Medical Logistics.

 

633d Surgical Operations Squadron
The 633d SGCS provides world class surgical care for Air Force, Army, & Navy personnel and their families in peacetime and contingency environments. The Squadron supports General Surgery, Otolaryngology, Urology, Orthopedics, Women’s Health, Oral Maxillofacial, and Radiology services.
