CSM Paul J. Ellis

Command Sergeant Major Paul J. Ellis is a native of St. Catherine, Jamaica by way of Queens, New York.

He enlisted into the Army on 31 August 1999, completing Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Eustis, Virginia where he was awarded the MOS 88N (Transportation Management Coordinator).

Command Sergeant Major Ellis’s previous assignments include, 330th Transportation Battalion (MC), 3rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command, Fort Bragg, NC; DTO SGM, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, CO; First Sergeant, 359th Inland Cargo Transfer Company and 73rd Transportation Company (Floating Craft), 10th Transportation Battalion, Fort Eustis, VA; Staff Movements NCO, HHC 92nd Civil Affairs Battalion (Airborne) and First Sergeant, Chief Movements Supervisor, HHC 96th Civil Affairs Battalion (Airborne), 95th Civil Affairs Brigade (Airborne), Fort Bragg NC; Movement Control NCO, Senior Movement NCO, Movements Supervisor, 386th Movement Control Team, 14th Transportation Battalion, Vicenza, Italy; Movement Control NCOIC, 307th Brigade Support Battalion (Airborne), 82nd Airborne Division (Airborne), Fort Bragg NC; and Movement Control Specialist, 261st Movement Control Team, 330th Transportation Battalion (MC), Fort Bragg, NC.

Command Sergeant Major Ellis’s deployment includes, one tour in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve, two tour in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and two tours in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Command Sergeant Major Ellis’s military education include Airborne School, Air Assault Course, U.S. Army Jumpmaster Course, Combatives Level 1, Master Resilience Trainer Course, Battle Staff Course, Small Arms Master Gunner's Course, Primary Leaders Course, Basic Non-Commissioned Officer Course, Advance Non-Commissioned Officer Course, and the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy Class 67.

His awards and decorations include Bronze Star Medal (1OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (4OLC), Army Commendation Medal (4OLC), Army Achievement Medal (3OLC), Joint Meritorious Unit Award (Permanent Award), Valorous Unit Award (Permanent Award), Army Good Conduct Medal (7th Award), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with one Campaign Star, Iraqi Campaign Medal with two Campaign Stars, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Master Parachutist Badge, the Air Assault Badge, the Thai, Latvian, and German Silver Parachutist Badge.

Command Sergeant Major Ellis possesses the Transportation Corps Honorable Order of Saint Christopher. He holds an Associate of Arts and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Liberty University and a graduate of Webster University with a Master of Arts Degree.

He is married to the beautiful Iona E. Ellis and they have a 2 year old son Zaid A. Ellis and a 5 year old daughter Milan C. Ellis.
