1st Maintenance Group

The 1st Maintenance Group's mission is to rapidly deploy and employ 46 combat-ready F-22 Raptor aircraft worth $6.7 billion, teamed with the 1st Operations Group to comprise Air Combat Command's most historic air combat units -- America’s First Team: the 1st Fighter Wing.

 The Virginia Air National Guard's 192d Maintenance Group is a Classic Associate partner and the groups operate as one -- generating, launching and recovering over 6,000 sorties a year. The groups' 1,382 active duty, civilian and ANG personnel are aligned in 81 work centers, with 55 facilities, 113 vehicles and an annual operating budget of $1.7 million.                                                          .

1st Munitions Squadron

 

The 1st Munitions Squadron is comprised of 231 warfighters across four Flights who maintain, store, break-out, inspect, assemble, and deliver both the munitions and the associated aircraft launch and release devices. The Munitions Storage Area houses 68,000 lbs of Net Explosive Weight valued at $122 million throughout 54 acres utilizing 18 structures. The Armament Flight maintains 441 pieces of Alternate Mission Equipment totaling $37.7 million, 19 Universal Ammunition Loading Systems, 57 M61A2 20mm gun systems, and over $64 million of support equipment.

1st Maintenance Squadron

MXS Dragons provide both on and off aircraft maintenance in support of the 1FW’s F-22 fleet as well as numerous external customers. The squadron is comprised of 340 personnel (and 170 Air National Guard partners) organized into 7 diverse flights spanning 13 dynamic AFSCs. MXS personnel provide expertise, repair and overhaul capabilities for egress, fuels, structural and low observable systems. MXS performs calibration and repair actions for test, measurement and diagnostic equipment customers spanning across the Department of Defense and other government agencies. MXS maintains more than 400 aerospace ground equipment assets and manages the wing’s fleet of F119 PW 100 engines as a centralized intermediate repair facility. MXS provides emergency response and crash recovery efforts in support of all assigned Joint Base Langley-Eustis aircraft.

27th Fighter Generation Squadron

The 27th Fighter Generation Squadron maintains the readiness of 27 F-22s by managing the efforts of 251 personnel in 8 different AFSCs to maintain combat-ready airpower in support of the 27th Fighter Squadron requirements. The unit performs on-equipment maintenance, inspections, low observable reduction, plans and scheduling, analysis, servicing, and launch/recover actions necessary to maintain mission-readiness. 27 FGS maintenance personnel rapidly generate, mobilize, deploy, and employ forces providing both combat and peacetime operations in support of U.S. national security interests; ready to meet any challenge, anytime, anywhere.

94th Fighter Generation Squadron

The 94th Fighter Generation Squadron maintains the readiness of 26 F-22s by managing the efforts of 280 personnel in 8 different AFSCs to maintain combat-ready airpower in support of the 94th Fighter Squadron requirements. The unit performs on-equipment maintenance, inspections, low observable reduction, plans and scheduling, analysis, servicing, and launch/recover actions necessary to maintain mission-readiness. 94 FGS maintenance personnel rapidly generate, mobilize, deploy, and employ forces providing both combat and peacetime operations in support of U.S. national security interests; ready to meet any challenge, anytime, anywhere.

Group Staff Agencies

The Maintenance Group also includes three direct-reporting agencies: Quality Assurance, Weapons Standardization and Maintenance Operations, which has responsibility for command and control, plans and scheduling, maintenance management  and analysis, and training management. MXG also has several assigned Air Force Engineering and Technical Service advisors, and oversees contracted field service representatives and technicians.
