Will the base conduct mosquito spraying?

"Ask the JBLE Commander" is a forum for the Joint Base Langley-Eustis community to ask questions, provide feedback and voice concerns about Langley Air Force Base and Fort Eustis directly to Col. Caroline M. Miller, the 633rd Air Base Wing commander.

Question: Will the base conduct mosquito spraying?

Col. Caroline M. Miller.
Col. Caroline M.
Miller
  Response:

Yes, mosquito aerial spraying is scheduled for August 4-6, 2015, from 6 to 8 p.m., weather permitting.  Spraying areas include Langley AFB, Craney Island, the Portsmouth Coast Guard Station, and sections of Portsmouth adjacent to the military bases.  A specially designed C-130 Hercules will be flying between 150 and 200 feet over the areas and spray Trumpet Concentrate. The spray is not harmful to people or animals; however, anyone with known allergies to insecticides should stay indoors during spraying hours.
