Langley Raptors return home October 12, 2017 — Over 100 members assigned to the 1st Fighter Wing returned to Langley Air Force Base today after a 6 month deployment to the Middle East. During their deployment, F-22 Raptors participated in Operation INHERENT RESOLVE against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria. “I can’t be more proud of our Airmen,” said U.S. Air Force Col. Jason T. Hinds, 1st FW Commander. “They did fantastic work operating and maintaining the F-22 for a prolonged period of combat operations. Well done.” MORE

Physical Therapy Month: Celebrating military roots, looking to the future October 11, 2017 — The 633rd Medical Operations Squadron Physical Therapy Clinic is currently celebrating Physical Therapy Month. The clinic provides a wide range of services to active duty service members in the Joint Base Langley-Eustis area, hosting over 17,000 patient visits per year. The therapists evaluate and treat most musculoskeletal issues including knee, back, and neck pain, neurological symptoms such as sciatica and radiculopathy, as well as post-operative rehabilitation. Paving way to mission readiness October 4, 2017 — An engine revs as tires roll over the silky black top steadily reaching 40, 50, 60 miles per hour, then, all of a sudden, the front tire sinks into a pothole. The chassis slams against the asphalt, the steering wheel jerks to the side as the sound of screeching tires echo—the car has lost control. If a pilot in control of a U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptor were to find such a pothole as it screamed down the runway, the outcome could be catastrophic. To prevent such an incident, the 633rd Civil Engineer Squadron is tasked with the up keep of the oldest active U.S. Air Force airfield, which supports 5th generation weapons systems. MORE
