Chief Master
Sergeant Derek T. Crowder is the Command Chief Master Sergeant for the 1st
Fighter Wing, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, VA. He provides direction for the 1st
Fighter Wing enlisted force and represents their interests, as appropriate, to
senior military leaders, professional military organizations and community
partners. Chief Crowder works directly for the Wing Commander and advises him
on all issues regarding the welfare, readiness, morale and proper utilization
and progress of the 1,200 enlisted personnel assigned to the 1st Fighter Wing.
Chief
Crowder grew up in Argenta, Illinois and entered the Air Force in January of
1994. His background includes various duties in Materiel Management at the unit
and Major Command level. Throughout his career he has also filled roles outside
of Materiel Management to include Airman Leadership Instructor and Flight
Chief. Previous assignments include installations in New Mexico, Illinois, Alaska,
Alabama, Afghanistan and Republic of Korea. His deployments include support of
Operation Deny Flight, Southern Watch and Enduring Freedom. Prior to assuming
his current position he was Superintendent of the 375th Mission Support Group,
Scott AFB, Illinois.
